According to Cambsnews, an Asda Express petrol station in Burwell fell victim to a spectacular ATM ram raid in the early morning, with attackers using a vehicle to smash through the building’s wall to access the cash machine inside. The incident marks the second similar attack to occur in the region within just 48 hours.
Cambridgeindependent reports that Ramsey was also targeted in an identical operation, with the same modus operandi employed by the offenders. Local authorities are investigating both incidents to determine whether they are connected. Significant structural damage was caused to the Burwell building during the attack. No information has been released regarding the identity of the suspects, their getaway, or the sum stolen during the raid.
Business owners should reinforce ATM security with bollards or reinforced protection barriers to prevent vehicle ram raids.
