According to Belfasttelegraph, a shop in south Belfast was robbed by a man armed with an imitation gun. During the incident, reported in December 2025, a staff member was threatened during the theft. The robber made off with cash and cigarettes from the till.
Ciaran Joseph Crilly was arrested following the incident, convicted of the robbery, and has since been jailed. Belfasttelegraph reports that he was identified as the man responsible for the armed robbery.
Shop workers should be trained to respond calmly during robberies and prioritize personal safety over protecting stock or money.
