A man involved in looting a vape store in Sunderland during civil unrest has been sentenced to prison, according to Chroniclelive. The incident resulted in losses totalling £83,000 from the raid.
Two individuals participated in the same burglary. While one received a custodial sentence, the second was spared jail time after taking steps to address what the court described as his “harmful” far-right ideology. The court distinguished between the circumstances of each defendant in reaching its sentencing decisions for this significant raid that occurred during the riots.
Business owners should ensure vape stores and other retail premises are secured with robust locks, alarms, and monitoring systems to deter opportunistic theft during periods of civil unrest.
