Thieves smashed a Co-op supermarket shopfront in Christchurch, Dorset, and stole an ATM according to a BBC report published on 24 May 2025. The criminals targeted the retail premises in what appears to be a coordinated raid on the high-street store.
Supermarkets and other retail premises should implement layered security measures including reinforced glass barriers, perimeter lighting, CCTV monitoring, and secure cash handling procedures to reduce vulnerability to smash-and-grab raids.
