A ram-raid occurred at a Co-op supermarket in Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, according to BBC reports. Suspected thieves stole a cash machine and later abandoned both the cash machine and a pick-up van in the middle of a village road. Police were called following reports of the incident, which was published on 15 March 2024.
Supermarkets remain attractive targets for ram-raid burglaries due to their valuable automated teller machines and retail inventory. Business owners should consider installing bollards or barriers to prevent vehicles from breaching store entrances, and work with local law enforcement to strengthen security measures.
