Burglary at the Royal Oak pub in St Ives

According to Cambridgenews, two men have been charged following a break-in at the Royal Oak pub on Crown Street in St Ives. Cambridgeshire Police were called to the premises at approximately 8.50pm on Monday, 6 April, following reports of the incident.

The items reported stolen during the burglary include alcohol, orange juice, crisps, and a till. Following the police response, two individuals were arrested and subsequently charged. Darren Scales, of Pyes Yard, Norwich, has been charged with two counts of burglary, while Jack Simmons, of Rectory Lane, Somersham, faces charges of burglary and criminal damage.

According to an article published on 8 April 2026, both men were scheduled to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court that morning.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all cash registers are emptied and left open overnight to deter potential intruders.
