Series of trading card shop burglaries under investigation

According to Nottinghampost, Nottinghamshire Police have made multiple arrests following a series of burglaries targeting collectable trading card shops. The first incident occurred on 26 December 2023 at Sanctuary Gaming on Forest Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Intruders smashed a window to gain entry, stealing cash and various trading cards. While some stock was recovered in a nearby garden, the suspects initially fled the scene.

A second burglary took place at Jake’s Breaks on High Road, Beeston, where intruders used a concrete slab to break into the premises. According to Nottinghampost, stock including Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering cards worth approximately £9,000 was taken. Following CCTV and police enquiries, a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with the first incident, while a 49-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested regarding the second. All suspects have been released on conditional bail as investigations continue. Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy noted that the force takes these reports seriously, acknowledging the distressing impact such crimes have on local business owners.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures, including the installation of high-quality alarm systems and reinforced glass, to deter potential intruders.
