Residential theft and assault in Stakeford

According to an article published by Chroniclelive on 29 November 2025, a 26-year-old man has been sentenced following a burglary at his grandparents’ home in Stakeford, Northumberland. The defendant, Curtis Telford, had been residing at the property when he requested money from his grandparents. After his request was refused due to concerns regarding potential drug use, Telford proceeded to remove a TV sound bar belonging to his grandfather.

Chroniclelive reports that as Telford attempted to leave the premises with the item, he assaulted his grandfather by barging past him. During the incident, a picture frame on the wall was also damaged. Telford pleaded guilty to theft, assault, and criminal damage at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court. He received an eight-week prison sentence, which was suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £50 in compensation along with £85 in costs.
