Residential burglary in Warwick

According to an article published by Coventrytelegraph on 23 July 2025, a Warwick mother successfully forced a burglar out of her flat after discovering him in her hallway. The intruder, identified as 45-year-old Lee Wykes, claimed he was “looking for something” when confronted by the resident. Despite his initial denial of any wrongdoing following his arrest, Wykes later pleaded guilty to burglary.

The victim provided a comprehensive description to the police, which allowed detectives to track down and charge the offender. On Monday, 21 July, Wykes was sentenced to 26 months in prison at Warwick Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Tim O’Mahoney noted that the perpetrator disregarded the rights of the victim and her young child, emphasizing that residents have a right to feel safe and secure in their own homes.

Ensure all doors and windows are securely locked, even when you are at home, to prevent unauthorized access.
