Sentencing following Newmarket mobile phone shop raid
According to an article published on 23 April 2025 by Mylondon, a masked gang from South London has been sentenced following a burglary at a mobile phone shop in Newmarket. The incident occurred on Christmas Eve 2024 at the Vodafone store on Newmarket High Street.
Mylondon reports that the perpetrators entered the premises and threatened a female employee before forcing staff into a storage area. The group stole approximately 50 handsets, valued at £30,000, and fled the scene. Following an investigation involving Suffolk, Essex, and Metropolitan Police, the suspects were apprehended and their vehicle was stopped, leading to the recovery of the stolen devices.
All three men appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on 11 April. Samuel Zebo and Jevan Davis were each sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to burglary. Bobby Ezeoba received an 18-month community order, including 250 hours of unpaid work, after pleading guilty to theft. Detective Inspector Cat Thompson stated that the arrests were the result of effective inter-agency co-operation.
