Violent robbery at Chelsea antiques store
According to an article published on 27 November 2024 by the Mirror, a celebrity antiques dealer and his security guard were attacked during a robbery at a store in Chelsea, west London. The raid, which occurred on 26 March, involved two masked men identified as James Dixon and Thomas Loring.
Mirror reports that the perpetrators used a hammer and a sledgehammer to assault the owner, Ian Towning, and his security guard, Mark Simmons. The assailants successfully cleared the shop of jewellery valued at £120,000. Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad, both Dixon and Loring were convicted of a series of violent robberies and burglaries committed in and around London earlier this year. The pair are currently on remand and are scheduled to be sentenced in the new year.
Business owners are encouraged to regularly review and upgrade their security systems, including alarms and surveillance, to deter potential intruders.
