Aggravated burglary conviction in Basingstoke
According to an article published by the Basingstokegazette on 8 January 2024, a man has been sentenced to eight years and seven months in prison for an aggravated burglary. Bobby Lawrence, 22, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated burglary, possession of a bladed article, and criminal damage.
The Basingstokegazette reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 29, at a property on Barber Road in Brighton Hill. Lawrence gained entry to the home by throwing a large gas bottle through a rear window. Once inside, he threatened the residents with a knife before stealing an electric scooter. Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and arrested Lawrence.
The sentencing took place at Winchester Crown Court on Friday, January 5. Detective Constable Steve Jakes noted the severe impact of the crime on the victims and stated that the police remain committed to addressing violent offenses within the community. Lawrence was sentenced for his actions following his guilty plea to all three charges.
