Ram-raid incident at Mayfield Terrace shops

According to an article published by Scottishsun on 22 March 2024, police are investigating an attempted break-in involving two shops in the Mayfield area of Arbroath, Angus. The incident occurred on Friday morning, with reports received by Police Scotland at approximately 5:50 am.

Scottishsun reports that a stolen learner’s lorry was used to strike the frontages of a Co-op and a neighbouring Mayfield Foodstores. The impact caused significant damage to both storefronts. Following the collision, the vehicle was abandoned a short distance away, having sustained a shattered windscreen and roof damage. The lorry, which belonged to a local driving school, was also involved in a collision with a parked car on Lethnot Road.

Local authorities have cordoned off the area to facilitate repairs and ongoing investigations. No suspects have been apprehended at this time. Police Scotland confirmed that inquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures and consider installing reinforced storefront protections to deter vehicle-based intrusions.
