Armed robbery at a jewellery store in Leeds
According to an article published on 27 June 2024 by Thetelegraphandargus, an armed gang raided a jewellery store at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. West Yorkshire Police received multiple reports of the robbery at Beaverbrooks jewellers beginning at 8:42pm.
According to Thetelegraphandargus, five suspects entered the premises armed with a chainsaw, baseball bats, and a sledgehammer. The gang proceeded to damage glass display cabinets and stole a number of watches. During the incident, a staff member was attacked by having their hair pulled, though the victim was otherwise physically unharmed.
Detective Inspector John Graham of the Leeds District CID described the incident as a planned and targeted robbery. West Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for information and are urging anyone who can assist the investigation to contact Leeds District CID, quoting crime reference number 13240344913. Information may also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Businesses should ensure that security protocols are regularly reviewed and that staff are trained on emergency response procedures to enhance workplace safety.
