An off-licence in east Belfast was targeted in an armed robbery, according to reports published on 19 November 2024. A suspect threatened a staff member with a knife during the incident, demanding cash. The robber made off with cash and beer, Belfastlive reports.
The incident was serious enough to result in criminal charges. According to the Belfast Telegraph, two individuals — Emmanuel Quinn and Martin Smyth — were subsequently jailed for their involvement in the knife-point robbery at the east Belfast off-licence.
Businesses handling cash transactions should ensure staff are trained in robbery awareness and understand procedures to prioritise personal safety over protecting stock or money.
