Armed robbery at Morrisons Daily in Astley Village
According to an article published by Lancashirepost on 15 March 2024, staff were left traumatised following an armed robbery at a Morrisons Daily store in Astley Village. The incident occurred on a Wednesday night at approximately 9.55pm, just minutes before the shop was scheduled to close.
Lancashirepost reports that two men wearing black balaclavas entered the premises off Chancery Road armed with a hammer. The offenders grabbed a staff member behind the till, smashed a Perspex glass shield, and ripped it from the counter while threatening the employees. The suspects successfully fled the scene with approximately £1,000 in cash.
Lancashire Police have confirmed that no staff members were physically harmed during the raid, though the two workers involved were left deeply shaken. As of the report, no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing. Police have requested that anyone with information contact them, referencing log number LC-20240313-1429.
