Christmas presents were stolen from under a family’s tree during an early morning burglary in Haydock, according to reports published on 20 December 2025. Merseyside Police reported that the house on Fairclough Crescent was broken into just before 03:00 GMT on Saturday. Two teenagers, aged 15 and 19, were arrested in connection with the incident, the Liverpoolecho reports.
The burglary occurred during the festive season, a period when homes often contain newly purchased gifts and when families may be focused on holiday preparations rather than security. To protect your home during the busy Christmas period and beyond, ensure doors and windows are locked before you leave or go to bed, install motion-sensor lighting outside the property, and consider having neighbours keep an eye on your home if you are away. A burglar alarm or CCTV system provides additional deterrence and evidence should a break-in occur.
