Gym break-in causes significant damage in Whitnash
According to an article published by the BBC on 30 July 2024, Cleary’s Boxing Gym in Whitnash, Warwickshire, was the target of a burglary. The incident, which resulted in approximately £10,000 worth of damage, was discovered by staff when they arrived to open the facility for a children’s class.
The BBC reports that the intruders stole cash from a vending machine and took various kits belonging to members. According to the gym’s commercial director, Kurt Canavan, the premises were left ransacked, with lockers and cupboards emptied. The gym, which operates as a not-for-profit community facility, had recently moved into new premises featuring three boxing rings, a media suite, and a lounge area.
A fundraising appeal has since been launched to help the gym recover from the financial impact of the incident. Local authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the break-in.
Business owners are encouraged to regularly review their security measures and ensure that all entry points and high-value storage areas are properly reinforced.
