Sentencing following Truro domestic burglary
According to an article published on 4 May 2024 by Falmouthpacket, a Truro man has been sentenced at Truro Crown Court for domestic burglary and possession of a class A drug. The defendant, 34-year-old Jeffery Fogerty, had previously befriended a vulnerable man with health conditions by cleaning his windows and living in his home for several months.
Falmouthpacket reports that after being asked to leave the property, Fogerty returned in December. The victim awoke at 1am to find the defendant inside his bedroom. Fogerty had gained entry to the home and subsequently stole a bag containing the victim’s wallet. Following the incident, the defendant used the victim’s bank card to withdraw £250 from a supermarket in Newquay.
Fogerty initially denied the offence but later pleaded guilty. The victim stated that he no longer feels safe in his own home. During the arrest, police discovered a small quantity of cocaine in the defendant’s possession.
Always ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked, especially when retiring for the night or leaving your property unattended.
