A Lush store in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, was targeted during riots, according to reports published on 7 January 2025. The looting was part of a broader pattern of theft from retail premises during the civil unrest, with the Mirror reporting that offenders stole from Lush, O2, and Shoezone outlets. Multiple individuals have faced prosecution, including a man who pleaded guilty to the thefts and a 64-year-old who was jailed for stealing from both Lush and O2. A 15-year-old was also brought before the courts in connection with looting the store, though spared custody.
Business owners should ensure adequate security measures are in place, including CCTV, alarm systems, and robust staff protocols, to deter theft during periods of civil disorder.
