Ram-raid incident at Minster Lovell convenience store
According to an article published on 3 January 2025 by Talkingretail, a Spar convenience store in Minster Lovell, Oxfordshire, was targeted in a ram-raid incident over the Christmas period. The perpetrators successfully stole £2,500 from the store’s cash machine.
Talkingretail reports that this is the second time the business has been targeted in three months. The store owner, Ian Lewis, noted that the suspects, believed to be a group of five or six individuals, wore hazmat suits and balaclavas during the raid. The group reportedly fled the scene in two stolen vehicles, an Audi and a Land Rover Discovery, both of which were later recovered by police. No arrests have been made, and Thames Valley Police are currently investigating a potential link to a similar ram-raid in Evesham.
While the shop has since reopened, the entrance remains boarded due to significant structural damage. Following the incident, the owner plans to remove the cash machine to eliminate the incentive for future criminal activity. Police are requesting that residents provide any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Businesses are encouraged to review their security measures and remove high-value incentives to deter potential criminal activity.
