Ram raid at Lakenheath supermarket
According to Asiantraderbiz, a Co-op store in Lakenheath was targeted in a pre-dawn ram raid on 24 June 2026. A gang utilized a JCB telehandler to remove an ATM from the building’s wall before loading the machine onto a black Nissan Navara pickup truck.
The suspects fled the scene in convoy with a blue Volkswagen Golf R, sparking a cross-border police pursuit into Norfolk. Officers later located the Nissan Navara, which had been set on fire, and recovered the stolen cash machine. Although police deployed a stinger to stop the Volkswagen Golf R, the occupants abandoned the vehicle in a field and managed to escape. A second Nissan Navara was later discovered abandoned on farmland north of RAF Lakenheath, though its connection to the incident remains unconfirmed.
Suffolk Police have launched an investigation and are currently appealing for witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage from the area to come forward. High Street remained closed for a period to allow for building assessments and investigative work.
Business owners are encouraged to review their external security measures and ensure that high-value assets are protected against unauthorized vehicle access.
