Burglary at Tesco Express in Weaverham

According to an article published on 12 November 2025 by Lancslive, a man has been sentenced to three years in prison following a ram raid at a Tesco Express store in Weaverham. The incident occurred at 12.40am on Monday, 16 June.

Lancslive reports that 35-year-old Robin Vaughan used a stolen Nissan Navara 4×4 to repeatedly ram the shopfront on Northwich Road. CCTV footage captured the destruction caused to the premises, after which the offender stole £3,000 in cash and a bag of parcels. The vehicle used in the raid was later discovered in a field in Dutton, and the stolen parcels were recovered from a nearby pond.

Following an investigation involving CCTV and ANPR footage, police identified Vaughan, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle. The court heard that the incident caused over £35,000 in damage, forcing the store to close for two days and resulting in a significant loss of trade. Vaughan was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on 11 November.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures, including the installation of reinforced bollards to prevent vehicle-based intrusions.
