Attempted ram raid at Bishops Cleeve supermarket
According to an article published on 15 November 2024 by Gloucestershirelive, a man has been sentenced to two years in prison following an attempted ram raid at a Tesco store in Bishops Cleeve. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 6 December of the previous year.
Gloucestershirelive reports that CCTV footage captured a Mercedes 4×4 reversing into the supermarket’s metal shutters. Prior to the collision, a group of men was seen clearing the foyer of display items. Although nothing was stolen during the attempt, the store sustained approximately £80,000 in repair costs and reported a loss of £120,000 in potential sales and staff pay.
Jack Bradley, 25, was identified after police discovered his DNA on a tissue left at the scene. He appeared at Gloucester Crown Court on 12 November and received a two-year prison sentence to run concurrently with a previous sentence. The investigation confirmed that the Renault van used by the group had been stolen and was later abandoned. Businesses are encouraged to review their security measures and perimeter defenses to prevent unauthorized vehicle access.
