A Co-op store in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, was targeted in a ram raid according to an article published on 30 August 2025. Northantstelegraph reports that a Toyota truck was used in the attempted break-in, with the vehicle reversed directly into an ATM located inside the store. Despite the force of the collision, the raid was unsuccessful and the perpetrators failed to extract the cash machine. The damage was concentrated around the ATM and the adjacent structure of the shop. No arrests were immediately reported following the incident.
Businesses should ensure ATMs and high-value assets are protected with reinforced barriers and monitored by CCTV systems to deter ram raid attempts.
