Recent residential burglaries in the Cotswolds
According to an article published by Oxfordmail on 17 May 2026, several homes in Cotswolds villages have been targeted by burglars searching for cash and jewellery. Thames Valley Police reported that a home in Spelsbury was broken into overnight on Friday, May 15. Offenders reportedly gained entry through the back door and conducted a ‘messy’ search of the property.
This incident follows a similar burglary in the nearby village of Churchill, which occurred at approximately 9.30pm on Wednesday, May 13. In that instance, multiple offenders accessed the rear of the property and smashed through patio doors before searching the house.
Police have requested that anyone with information regarding the Spelsbury incident contact them quoting reference number 43260242669. Information regarding the Churchill burglary should be directed to the force quoting reference number 43260237641.
Homeowners are advised to secure their properties by locking all doors and windows, installing visible security measures such as CCTV, and ensuring their homes appear occupied when they are away.
