Large quantity of chocolate stolen in Skelmersdale
According to an article published on 22 April 2024 by Metro, police are searching for suspects involved in a significant commercial theft at the Gillibrands Industrial Estate in Skelmersdale, Lancashire. Thieves reportedly stole a trailer containing £134,000 worth of Kinder Bueno chocolate bars.
Metro reports that the suspects arrived at the storage facility with a lorry at 3am on 17 March 2024. They attached the trailer to their vehicle and drove to Simonswood in Merseyside, where police believe the cargo was transferred to another vehicle. The empty trailer was later discovered abandoned in Rainford.
PC Holly Bennett of Lancashire Police has appealed for information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the industrial estate or at the locations where the load was transferred or the trailer was abandoned. This incident follows a similar high-value theft of chocolate goods reported in the press last year.
Ensure your commercial premises are equipped with robust perimeter security and monitored alarm systems to deter unauthorized access.
