ATM stolen from Co-op store in Kidsgrove

According to an article published by Stokesentinel on 9 January 2026, a Co-op supermarket in Kidsgrove was targeted in a burglary involving heavy machinery. Staffordshire Police were called to the Cedar Avenue branch at 3am following reports that an ATM had been ripped from the front of the building using a stolen JCB telehandler.

Stokesentinel reports that two suspects were observed at the scene, having arrived in a white van and a silver VW Golf. Both individuals were described as wearing all black. The JCB was abandoned at the location and has since been seized by officers. A structural engineer was requested to assess the damage to the premises, which remains temporarily closed.

Staffordshire Police are continuing their inquiries and have requested that anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage contact them. Witnesses are asked to call 101 and quote incident number 82 of 9 January.

Business owners are encouraged to review their site security and consider installing bollards or physical barriers to prevent unauthorized vehicle access to storefronts.
