Attempted armed robbery at a Wishaw shop
According to an article published by Dailyrecord on 11 March 2025, a woman has pleaded guilty to assault and attempted robbery following an incident at a shop in Wishaw. The event occurred at the Day Today store on Cambusnethan Street on 8 June of last year.
Dailyrecord reports that the 35-year-old woman entered the premises and requested alcohol despite having no money. After the shopkeeper refused, she took two bottles from a shelf. When the shopkeeper intervened to retrieve the items, the woman produced a kitchen knife and demanded alcohol. A struggle ensued, during which a staff member from a neighbouring business assisted in removing the individual from the shop. Police officers later recovered the weapon.
The accused appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court, where sentencing was deferred for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
Business owners are encouraged to review their security protocols and staff training procedures to ensure they are prepared for potential confrontations.
