Attempted burglary at Banbury supermarket

According to an article published on 8 January 2025, ITV reports that offenders rammed the front doors of an M&S shop located on Acorn Way in Banbury. The incident occurred shortly after 2am on Wednesday, 8 January.

Three individuals gained entry to the M&S Food Hall and attempted to drag out a cash machine. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the offenders subsequently fled the scene in an orange vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Hilux. According to ITV, Detective Constable Sam Buzzard of the Banbury Priority Crime Team confirmed that while there were no injuries, the store frontage sustained damage. The business remains open for customers.

Thames Valley Police are currently appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area between 2.15am and 2.30am to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures and ensure that alarm systems and physical barriers are regularly maintained to deter unauthorized access.
