Attempted robbery at Chipping Norton petrol station

According to an article published by Oxfordmail on 19 April 2024, a cashier at the Esso petrol station on London Road in Chipping Norton was threatened with a weapon during an attempted robbery. The incident occurred at approximately 1.20am on Sunday, 14 April.

Oxfordmail reports that a man demanded money from the tills. Upon realising that the cashier had activated the alarm, the suspect fled the scene in the direction of Albion Street. Thames Valley Police have described the offender as a black man in his twenties, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, with a slim build and short, curly hair. He was reportedly wearing a mask, a black hooded top, and slim trousers.

Investigating officer DS Stephanie Welsh has appealed for witnesses to come forward. Information can be provided to the police by calling 101, quoting reference number 43240173577, or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure their security alarm systems are fully operational and regularly tested to deter potential intruders.
