Police investigate supermarket break-in in Dufftown

According to an article published on 4 July 2025 by Grampianonline, police are investigating a break-in at a Co-op store located on Fife Street in Dufftown. The incident occurred in the middle of the night, with authorities receiving reports of the break-in at approximately 1.10am on Friday, July 4.

Grampianonline reports that this event follows a similar break-in that took place at a retail premises in Kingussie at 11.30pm on Thursday, July 3. During the Kingussie incident, three individuals wearing balaclavas and dark clothing were observed on the high street. The two locations are approximately 53 miles apart.

Detective Inspector Gavin Fleming stated that the investigation into the Dufftown incident is currently at an early stage. Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Andy Bilton noted that police are maintaining an open mind regarding potential connections between this break-in and other similar incidents reported in the region in recent days. Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
