Violent burglary reported in Balderton

According to an article published on 7 February 2024 by Westbridgfordwire, a 22-year-old man from Newark-on-Trent has been charged with burglary involving theft or attempted theft with violence. The charges follow an incident in which a masked intruder broke into a private home located on Brandon Close in Balderton.

Westbridgfordwire reports that the incident occurred shortly after 7.45 pm on 28 January. During the break-in, an 80-year-old man was pushed to the floor, kicked, and threatened with a hammer. It remains unclear if any items were stolen during the encounter.

Following police inquiries, a suspect was arrested on Sunday, 4 February. The individual was remanded into custody and scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates on 6 February. Detective Inspector Luke Todd of Nottinghamshire Police stated that the force is determined to secure justice for the victim and emphasized that violent crime and burglary will not be tolerated.
