Burglary at North London Hospice shop
According to an article published by Hamhigh on 27 December 2024, the North London Hospice charity shop located on High Road in East Finchley was targeted by burglars shortly before Christmas. Staff discovered that a window had been smashed and goods stolen from the display when they arrived for work on December 21.
Hamhigh reports that this incident marks the fourth time the shop has been targeted this year, following previous break-ins in January and September. Paul Jordan, head of marketing at the charity, stated that each repair costs at least £1,000. In response to the repeated attacks, the organization is now looking to invest in security shutters to prevent future incidents.
The charity noted that the shop serves as a community hub and that the theft occurred during a vital period for sales. While the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for further information, the charity emphasized that no staff or customers were harmed during the event.
Business owners are encouraged to evaluate their security measures, such as installing reinforced glass or shutters, to deter unauthorized entry.
