According to an article published on 13 February 2026 by Greatyarmouthmercury, a 19-year-old teenager has been sentenced following a burglary at a private home in Norwich. The incident occurred on Saturday, 18 October 2025, at a property located on Earles Gardens.

Greatyarmouthmercury reports that the defendant, Jack McCauley, broke into the residence following a night out drinking. The occupant of the home, who was sleeping at the time, reported hearing smashing glass and discovered damage to his property and television. Upon arrival, police officers arrested the individual, who subsequently assaulted two officers during the encounter.

Appearing at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court, the defendant pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling with intent to cause damage and to the assault of two police officers. He received a four-month prison sentence, suspended for eighteen months. In addition to 200 hours of unpaid work, the court ordered him to pay compensation for the injuries caused to the officers and for the repairs to the damaged property.
